The kimono bomber is a hybrid of the classic bomber jacket and kimono of Japan, made with handwoven fabric by weavers of the Itneg, Inlaud Tribe located in the Abra, Cordillera Region, and mesh lining for a breathable touch. It features two 7 inch interior pockets plus two 7 inch exterior pockets. The fabric is called “kantarines” and is recognized as one of the fabrics of the Ilocos regions. The fabric got its name because the weavers would sing while weaving this specific design (the root “kanta” means “to sing”). The kantarines fabric uses a simple inabel technique that uses mainly cotton threads. Because of the simple technique and cotton threads, inabel has a softer hand than most handwoven textiles.
